About Auburn-Davis DBT

We provide comprehensive, evidence-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents, young adults, and their families at our Rocklin and Davis offices.

Auburn-Davis DBT is a group practice specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for individuals who experience intense emotions, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and relationship difficulties.

Our team of DBT-trained therapists provides comprehensive treatment that includes individual therapy, skills training groups, and phone coaching. We serve adolescents, young adults, and their families across the greater Sacramento region from our offices in Rocklin and Davis, California.

DBT was developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan and has been extensively researched and validated. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with acceptance-based strategies, teaching practical skills that help people build lives worth living.

Our Teen Program

Auburn-Davis DBT offers a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy program for teenagers ages 13–17. Our teen DBT program is designed to help adolescents who struggle with emotional dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and other challenges.

A distinguishing feature of our teen program is the multi-family skills training group, which meets weekly and includes both the teen and their parent or guardian. Family involvement is not just encouraged — it is a core component of treatment. When families learn DBT skills together, teens have a stronger support system at home.

For Parents & Guardians

Parent Training

Parents and guardians play a critical role in their teen's DBT treatment. Our parent training program teaches you the same DBT skills your teen is learning so you can reinforce those skills at home and respond more effectively during difficult moments.

When the whole family speaks the same language — validation, wise mind, DEAR MAN — teens make faster progress and the home environment becomes a place of support rather than conflict. Parent training is available as part of our teen program and as a standalone offering for families seeking additional support.

The Four DBT Skill Modules

DBT teaches practical skills across four core modules. These skills are taught in group and practiced in individual therapy and daily life.

1

Mindfulness

The foundation of DBT. Mindfulness skills teach you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, staying present in the moment rather than being swept away by emotions.

2

Distress Tolerance

These skills help you survive crisis situations without making them worse. You learn to accept reality as it is, even when it is painful, and to get through difficult moments without acting impulsively.

3

Emotion Regulation

Learn to understand your emotions, reduce emotional vulnerability, and change unwanted emotional states. These skills help you experience emotions without being overwhelmed by them.

4

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Build and maintain healthy relationships while maintaining your self-respect. Learn to ask for what you need, say no effectively, and navigate conflict in a way that preserves relationships.
